TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival Jun 21 – Jul 1
With 300 indoor and outdoor performances, Vancouver’s signature festival—the TD Vancouver International Jazz Festival—kicks off the summer with its 28th edition featuring a stellar lineup that includes international headliners like Herbie Hancock, Esperanza Spalding, David Murray Infinity Quartet featuring Macy Gray, Nikki Yanofsky, John Scofield, Bettye Lavette, Dr. John & The Nite Trippers, Vijay Iyer Trio, Gregory Porter, Patricia Barber, Vieux Farka Touré and Kurt Rosenwinkel.
Over eleven days our colossal international musical showcase will attract over half a million people to experience and enjoy the best performers from Canada and around the world. Yet size and scope notwithstanding, the Festival retains a remarkable grassroots, community spirit and vitality rarely experienced anywhere else. Through the participation of enthusiastic musicians and passionate fans, sponsors, staff and volunteers, the Festival has contributed greatly to the growth of Vancouver as a cultural destination for music aficionados from near and far.
150 free concerts – take place during the Festival. For the second year we are thrilled to present the opening free weekend of the Festival in the heart of Vancouver’s downtown core on the historic grounds of the Vancouver Art Gallery and Robson Square. Downtown Jazz Weekend (June 22-23) will feature three stages, family activities, a community fair, art installations, artisan markets, two licensed bistros and much more. The Festival closes on a high note with free concerts during David Lam Park Jazz Weekend (June 29-30) and on four stages during Canada Day on Granville Island beginning at Noon.
